Fawohodie (pronounced “Fa Ho Dee Ay”) means independence in the Akan language of Twi; and is the foundational principle of Our Mission as a charitable organization operating in the Garfield Park community of Chicago.

Our Mission

To promote sustainable economic growth and opportunities through technical assistance for entrepreneurial, wealth building, and strategic business-related ventures.

Fawohodie Foundation was established to advance a model of community development rooted in ownership, skill-building, and long-term economic independence. Its formation was driven by the development of The K Culture Creator Center in West Garfield Park—an initiative that made clear the need for a dedicated institution to prepare residents to fully participate in, and benefit from, emerging investment in their neighborhood. What began as a response to a single project has evolved into a broader mission: equipping individuals with the tools, training, and mindset required to build, sustain, and lead within their own communities.
